1) How does it work?

You submit the video(s)of your Kata and a panel of International experienced/licensed Referees evaluates and score your kata using the WKF scoring criteria.

2) What divisions will be able to participate?

The event is open for advanced and elite students only. The divisions for this event are:

10 - 11 Female Advanced Kata

10 - 11 Male Advanced Kata

12 - 13 Female Advanced Kata

12 - 13 Male Advanced Kata

14 - 15 Female Advanced Kata

14 - 15 Male Advanced Kata

16 & Up Female Elite Kata

16 & Up Male Elite Kata

3) What happens to the athlete who wins each division?

The athletes who win first place in the divisions mentioned above will win a 2020 Punok Sponsorship (8 total winners)

4) What does the sponsorship consist of?

The first place winners will be considered part of the Punok team and will receive the following:

a) A set of Punok Gold Kata Gi

b) Punok Belts

c) Punok Backpack

d) Extensive Publicity as a Punok Sponsored athlete during the whole year (2020) in our social media pages

e) Become part of the Elite Kata Punok sponsored athletes.

5) How much is the Registration fee?

 

The fee to register and compete in this virtual event will be $60.

 

6) How do I register?

Through the provided link, you can upload the video of your Kata, fill out your information,  and complete the payment all at once. 

 

7) How many videos or Katas do I need to submit?

The system will require for you to submit two uploads. Therefore, you can do one of the following options:

a) You can submit one Kata and upload it twice (upload the same kata 2 times).

b) Or you can submit two different Katas.

8) Why do I need two uploads?

 

Each division will be divided in 2 groups where the first uploaded Kata will be evaluated and scored (first round). Then, the best 3 scores from each group will move on to the medal round (second round) as follows:

The highest score from each group will compete in the finals for first and second place. The following two best scores (2nd and 3rd positioned in the group) will compete for the 3rd places. (The second uploaded video will be used for the athletes that move on to the medal round (second round).

Note: The first upload will be used for your first round and the second upload for the second round.

9) When, where, and how do I need to record the video of my Kata?

Your kata can be recorded and uploaded from literately anywhere. Some of the options are: 

a) A recorded video of you doing your Kata at your dojo

b) A recorded video of you doing your kata at your house, the park, or simply anywhere.

c) A recorded video of you doing your kata at a recent tournament

 

Two Important requirements:

 

  • video can not be older than 6 months

  • All katas submitted need to be performed with your Gi on.

 

Note: The referees will not pay attention to the setting or place. They will only evaluate your Kata performance.

 

10) What is the registration deadline and what happens next?

* Registration (fee and video submission) Deadline = April 20th 

* Time for referees to evaluate = from April 20th to April 30th.

* Results and scores announcement = May 1st.
